Social Initiative
Support community engagement and participation in social and civic responsibilities
Increase neighborhood and community partnership with faith-based institutions to influence the social health of individuals.
Celebrate everyone’s cultural heritages & holidays in a way that adds value to the social network.
Create a place where elderly Ethiopian Immigrants congregate and enjoy social life - YESHE Community Center (Y2C).
Health Initiative
Assist faith-based organizations such as Ethiopian Evangelical Churches, Ethiopian Orthodox Churches, Chicago Bereka Muslim Community and others, to establish faith-based health programs or ministries.
Faith-based programs can produce positive effects; for example, they can significantly increase knowledge of disease, improve screening behavior and readiness to change, and reduce the risk associated with disease and disease symptoms.
Increase health and disease awareness on common diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke through health education.
Influence health behavior of individuals and communities
Provide information about the healthcare system, healthcare access and health and human services within the local government structure.
Increase access to care through providing information to individuals and communities.
Identify barriers and find ways to tackle barriers in Access and Utilization of Healthcare services.
Promote Disease prevention (prevention of disabilities)
Knowledge transfer to Ethiopian Healthcare system and healthcare organizations
Patient engagement in their care
Focus not only on providing care but on patients’ experiences
Partner with faith-based organizations and leaders to influence the health behavior of individuals and communities.
Community awareness sessions at faith-based organizations different events.
Quarterly, biannual or annual “Health Fest/Health Fairs”
Help establish health awareness outreach programs for individual faith-based organizations
Educational Initiatives
YESHE believes that education is the base of any desire to move forward.
Mentoring of high school students for future educational careers
Facilitate Tutoring for High school and College Students
Identifying gaps through peer mentoring
Advising and supporting education initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students
Provide research and project consultation to graduate and doctoral students
Provide basic courses in ESL, Bystander CPR, etc.
Partner with communities and individuals to raise books and educational material to support children in Ethiopia.
Support the Ethiopian Education system through knowledge transfer and consultation.
